About Radleys Grooming Academy
Professional Training with Individual Support
Radleys Grooming Academy is an approved iPET Network Training Provider based in Crownhill, Milton Keynes.
The academy was created to provide practical, supportive dog grooming education in a professional salon environment. We offer recognised qualifications for complete beginners, aspiring professional groomers, salon assistants and experienced groomers seeking formal recognition of their skills.
Our one-to-one and small-group approach allows every learner to receive individual guidance, practical demonstrations and constructive feedback throughout their training.
Meet Debbie
Radleys Grooming Academy was founded by Debbie Aylmer, an experienced and highly qualified professional dog groomer, educator and assessor.
Debbie has worked within the dog grooming industry for approximately 20 years. During that time, she has continually developed her knowledge through professional qualifications, specialist seminars, examinations, demonstrations, competitions and continued professional development.
Her experience includes:
-
Professional salon grooming
-
Teaching dog grooming at different qualification levels
-
Assessing practical skills and theory work
-
Supporting students within salons and training environments
-
Competition grooming
-
Breed-standard and commercial pet styling
-
Canine welfare and behaviour
-
Salon management and professional practice
Debbie holds Level 2 and Level 3 dog grooming qualifications and has taught learners working towards introductory, Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.
From Professional Groomer to Educator
After many years of working as a professional groomer, Debbie’s passion for the industry naturally developed into teaching.
Through working with students, she recognised how important it is for learners to receive enough practical experience, clear explanations and individual support.
Dog grooming is not a skill that can be developed through theory alone. Learners need opportunities to work with different breeds, coat types, temperaments and grooming requirements while receiving guidance from an experienced professional.
Radleys Grooming Academy was created to offer this type of practical, supportive learning environment.
Why Radleys Grooming Academy Was Created
Starting a new career can feel exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming.
Large classes and limited practical time can make it difficult for learners to ask questions, practice techniques and develop confidence. At Radleys, we take a more personal approach.
Our aim is to provide:
-
Small-group and individual tuition
-
Meaningful practical experience
-
Clear and honest feedback
-
A calm and welcoming learning environment
-
Support throughout the qualification
-
Skills that are relevant to a working grooming salon
-
A strong understanding of canine welfare and safe practice
We want learners to leave with more than a certificate. Our goal is to help them develop the practical ability, knowledge and professional confidence needed to move forward in the grooming industry.
Practical Training with Real Dogs
Students work with real dogs from the beginning of their practical training.
This gives learners experience of adapting their approach according to each dog’s:
-
Breed
-
Coat type and condition
-
Age and health
-
Behaviour
-
Confidence
-
Grooming history
-
Individual welfare needs
Depending on the chosen qualification, students may develop practical skills in bathing, drying, brushing, coat preparation, clipping, scissoring, hand-stripping, nail care and styling.
Every dog’s welfare, comfort and safety remain our highest priority.
One-to-One and Small-Group Learning
Everyone develops practical skills at a different pace.
Keeping our groups small allows Debbie to observe each learner closely, provide individual demonstrations and offer feedback while the student is working.
Learners are encouraged to ask questions, reflect on their work and understand why a particular technique or approach is being used.
This helps students develop confidence gradually rather than feeling pressured to keep up with a large class.
